District

DERA GHAZI KHAN:The Border Military Police (BMP) arrested four suspects, including two Afghan women, and recovered ice (crystal methamphetamine) worth millions of rupees during an operation in the tribal area of Rakhi Gaj.

BMP Commandant Capt (retd) Hamza Anjum, Risaldar Tuman Laghari, Abdullah Khan Laghari and Circle Officer Liaquat Abbas Laghari said that three of the arrested suspects, including two women, were Afghan nationals, while the fourth belonged to Balochistan.

He said that the alleged network was attempting to smuggle ice from Balochistan through Punjab to Chitral in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, allegedly using Afghan women for the purpose.

The BMP commandant said the timely operation had foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics worth millions of rupees. He added that investigations were underway to identify other members of the alleged network and their facilitators and bring them to justice.

He commended the BMP team for the successful operation and said that effective action against drug smuggling would continue.

However, separate cases have been registered against the suspects at Rakhi Gaj Police Station under drug-related laws and the Foreigners Act, and further investigations were underway.
