Multan:Bowling coach of England Jeetan Patel expressed satisfaction with his bowlers’ performance after the first day of the match against Pakistan, stating that taking four wickets on a flat pitch was a positive outcome.
Talking to the media person on Monday, Patel acknowledged the unique challenges of playing in subcontinent conditions but emphasized that the team remained focused and positive. He commended the efforts of the entire bowling unit, particularly highlighting Chris Woakes’ dismissal of Babar Azam on a difficult pitch. “Chris has proven himself to be a highly skilled bowler, taking Babar’s wicket on such a flat track was a great achievement,” Patel said.
He also praised spinner Jack Leach, describing him as an outstanding bowler who delivered according to his field placements. Additionally, young pacer Shaib Bashir and the rest of the attack worked tirelessly in the hot conditions to challenge Pakistan’s batters.
Reflecting on the pitch conditions, Patel mentioned that the surface was covered
for a week before the match, leaving the team unsure of what to expect. “After the first five overs, it felt like a one-day cricket pitch,” he said.
Despite the lack of help from the pitch, Patel was pleased with the bowlers’ persistence and ability to secure crucial wickets.
He reaffirmed the team’s commitment to their positive approach and the effort put in to adapt to the unpredictable conditions in Multan.
