Burewala: Police have arrested four suspected members of motorcycle theft and fraud gangs in separate operations in Burewala, tracing 15 criminal cases and recovering 11 stolen motorcycles and six tolas of gold jewellery collectively worth Rs4. 67 million.
According to SDPO Burewala Circle Rana Muhammad Imran Tipu, City Burewala Police, acting on the directions of DPO Vehari Tassawar Iqbal, on Saturday arrested two alleged members of a motorcycle theft gang and recovered 11 stolen motorcycles valued at Rs1. 77 million. The suspects were identified as Saddam alias Dani, a resident of Chak 447/EB, and Muhammad Shehbaz of Chak 124/EB.
The SDPO said the suspects allegedly stole motorcycles from Burewala and adjoining areas and sold them in different locations. The gang was traced with the help of modern technology and IT gadgets in an operation led by SHO City Burewala Mazhar Fareed Gondal and his team. The recovered motorcycles were subsequently handed over to their original owners.
In a separate operation, Model Town Burewala Police arrested two alleged members of a fraud gang, identified as Muhammad Abbas and Abid, both residents of Chak 231/EB, and recovered six tolas of gold jewellery worth Rs2. 9 million while tracing four fraud cases. Police said the suspects allegedly lured citizens with promises of doubling or tripling their gold jewellery before fleeing with the ornaments. The recovered jewellery was returned to the complainants. DPO Vehari Tassawar Iqbal appreciated the police teams and said the crackdown against organised criminal gangs would be further intensified to protect citizens from theft, fraud and other crimes.
