Bahawalpur: Under ‘Suthra Punjab’ programme, the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company (BWMC) has intensified its anti-littering campaign to strengthen the city’s sanitation system and promote public awareness about cleanliness.

According to an official press release issued here, the BWMC anti-littering squad has been actively visiting markets and commercial areas, educating shopkeepers on proper waste management practices and providing guidelines to help maintain a clean environment.

During the latest drive, the squad inspected 132 shops and issued warning notices to 45 shopkeepers for failing to maintain adequate cleanliness arrangements. Shopkeepers were instructed to keep proper dustbins at their premises, refrain from throwing waste in front of their shops, on footpaths, or on roads, and hand over their garbage to BWMC’s sanitary staff for proper disposal.

The shopkeepers were informed that their cooperation is essential to keeping the city clean, as maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility of every member of society.
