Call for increasing job quota for special persons

District

Bahawalpur: Member of the Punjab Assembly Saadia Bilal has urged the Punjab government to increase the quota reserved for hearing and speech-impaired persons in government jobs, enabling individuals with special needs to secure dignified employment after completing their education and training and to contribute positively to society.

According to a press release issued here, she said that the growing number of hearing and speech-impaired children requires the establishment of additional institutions as well as improvements in the facilities and capacity of existing ones.

She demanded allocation of dedicated funds to provide cochlear implant facilities for deserving children, particularly in underdeveloped areas, including Bahawalpur. The initiative seeks to ensure timely treatment and hearing rehabilitation, enabling affected children to participate more effectively in education and skill development.

She said that providing children with special needs equal opportunities in education, healthcare, training, and employment is essential for building an inclusive society. She urged the government and relevant institutions to take more effective practical measures to address the needs of special children and help them lead independent, dignified, and productive lives.
