Sargodha:A candlelit vigil was held at Azadi Chowk here on Saturday late night for two officials of Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) police who had been martyred by robbers in separate incidents in the district. Speaking on the occasion, PHP Sargodha Region, SP Akhtar Hussain Joyia, paying homage to the martyred Muhammad Irfan and Haroon Rasheed Khan said: “Martyrs are the crown of our nation”. He said that martyrs were the assets of the department and their services would be remembered forever. He urged his officers to perform their duties with utmost dedication. The event was attended by a large number of people from various walks of life, including DSP Sargodha Muhammad Arshad Gondal. It is pertinent to mention here that constable Muhammad Irfan was killed by robbers and constable Haroon Rasheed Khan was martyred in PHP Kundal Mianwali terrorist attack on January 10, 2023. Irfan was posted at PHP Nishtarabad and now its name had been changed as Irfan Shaheed PHP station.
