Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has intensified monitoring of sealed buildings and other suspected illegal constructions to prevent the resumption of construction activities in violation of building regulations.
Cantonment Board officials said action against illegal constructions and encroachments had already been taken at various locations, including sealing of buildings and demolition of unauthorised structures, while notices were also being issued to the owners of buildings found in violation of approved building plans and regulations.
They said a recent inspection of commercial building cases had also identified violations of approved building plans and construction regulations, following which the concerned record and sites were being examined further.
The officials said the Board was also keeping a close watch on buildings that had previously been sealed to ensure that no construction activity was resumed after sealing. Field teams were conducting inspections of sealed premises as well as suspected illegal constructions, they added.
They said action against violations was being taken on a case to case basis and the process would continue, with notices, sealing, demolition or other legal measures being adopted according to the nature of each violation.
The officials said the Cantonment Board would continue enforcement operations and monitoring to ensure compliance with building regulations and prevent unauthorised construction in cantonment areas.
