City administration’s campaign against illegal profiteers continues

Karachi: The city administration's campaign against illegal profiteers continues in all seven districts under the supervision of deputy commissioners.

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed all deputy commissioners to strictly enforce the official prices of essential food commodities

According to a handout issued by the commissioner office on Sunday, 54 profiteers have been arrested, and 44 shops have been sealed for violating official prices.

Fines exceeding Rs 4.2 million have been imposed on shopkeepers found guilty of overcharging. The officers have checked prices at over 3,600 locations.

The deputy commissioners are personally overseeing the efforts, and few are also in field for checking prices along with concerned officials.

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has praised the district administration's efforts and directed them to continue the campaign without showing leniency to profiteers.

According to details, in District South,17 Profiteers were arrested, and three shops were sealed.

In District East, 5 profiteers were arrested, and 6 shops were sealed. In District West, 13 arrests were made, and 1 shop was sealed. In District Central, 4 arrests were made, and 3 shops were sealed. In District Kemari, 2 arrests were made, and 14 shops were sealed. In District Korangi, 13 profiteers were arrested, and 13 shops were sealed.

Youth conference on ’21st century youth problems and their solutions’ to begin in Karachi on Jan 31

Karachi: Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Baksh Mahar has said that the Youth Affairs Department will organize a three-day youth conference in Karachi under the title '21st century youth problems and their solutions', to collect suggestions from all stakeholders .

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, the conference will continue from January 31 to February 2 at the Youth Club Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi.

Around 11 different sessions will be held during the conference scheduled to begin at 3 pm on January 31 and will be inaugurated by the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Baksh Mahar.

This conference will discuss education, employment, technology, social change, and the role of youth in the development of Sindh.

In addition, the youth conference will include musical and Mach Kacheri programs as well as a tour of historical places in Karachi.

Governor Sindh assure support for promotion of Polo

Karachi: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori on Sunday assuring all possible support for the promotion of Polo, said that under the Governor's Initiatives, sports are being promoted while full facilities are being extended to the players

He expressed these views while attending the final match ceremony of Sindh Polo Cup 2025 as a chief guest.

Earlier, when the Governor of Sindh and his wife reached Malir Garrison, they were seated in a buggy and taken to the ground.

On this occasion, the military band presented a salute to the Governor of Sindh.

Pakistan Customs achieves significant success in modernizing its performance: Chairman FBR

Karachi: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Rashid Mahmood Langrial on Sunday said that Pakistan Customs has achieved significant success in modernizing its performance, including the implementation of the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and Faceless Customs Assessment (FCA) System, which have made the trade process faster, transparent and easier, resulted in significant increase in revenue and enabled the clearance of export goods in a short time. The Chairman FBR said this while addressing as chief guest in the ceremony held to mark International Customs Day-2025 at the Customs House Karachi. Referring his recent interactions with the traders' community, Rashid Mahmood Langrial said that the traders' bodies in Karachi are glad because of introduction of FCA System by Pakistan Customs. The Chairman FBR declared the World Customs Theme-2025 'Customs delivering on its commitment to efficiency, security and prosperity' as very important for Pakistan Customs as it strives to make itself a modern, dynamic a nd future-thinking institution. On the occasion, the Chairman FBR also hoisted the flag and, laid wreaths at the Martyrs' Monument and recited Fateha. PPP shows determination to protect, uphold constitution: Sharjeel Memon

Karachi: Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon, Saturday, said that Pakistan Peoples Party believes in the supremacy of the constitution in Pakistan and it is determined to protect the constitution. The senior minister, in a statement issued here, said that parliament is the supreme institution according to the Constitution of Pakistan and it is the statuary function of the parliament to frame or amend the constitution and enact legislation. He said that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has made it clear that the Pakistan Peoples Party will protect the constitution. Sharjeel Memon said that president Asif Ali Zardari strengthened and stabilized the parliament during his first term in the office and for the first time in the country's history President Asif Ali Zardari transferred his presidential powers to the parliament to strengthened the parliament and democracy. One killed, two injured in Karachi aerial firing

Karachi:One child was killed and two others sustained injuries in a firing incident that took place near Sarjani Town area of Karachi, tv channels quoting Rescue sources reported on Friday.

According to details, one child tragically lost his life while two others sustained injuries in an aerial firing incident that reported in a wedding ceremony held in Sarjani Town area of Karachi.

Rescue team rushed to the site and shifted the dead and injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police have also reached the spot and started investigation.
