Karachi:The Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Sindh has partnered with New Beginning Hospital, DHA Phase 8, to establish a dedicated EPI Centre. This facility will provide free vaccinations against 12 deadly diseases to children, ensuring improved health outcomes for communities.

The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Dr. Muhammad Naeem, Program Director EPI Sindh, Dr. Sohail Raza Shaikh, Additional Program Director, Dr. Raj Kumar, DHO South, Dr. Obaidullah, Suneel Raja, UNICEF Communication Specialist, and Dr. Sadia Ahsan Pal from New Beginning Hospital.

Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Minister for Health Sindh and Rehan Iqbal Baloch, Secretary Health Sindh, have expressed their keen interest in engaging the private sector to expand the network of immunization centres across Sindh.

This collaboration reflects their commitment to improving access to life-saving vaccines and safeguarding the health of children throughout the province.

Adding further significance to the event, celebrated artist Shahzod Roy joined the cause, highlighting the vital role of immunization in protecting children and building a healthier future.

This initiative reinforces EPI Sindh's mission to ensure no child is left behind in the fight against vaccine-preventable diseases.

Karachi:Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Mohammad Sohail Rajput met with the delegation of elected Provincial Ombudsman Sindh's Ambassadors from Saleem Habib University in his office here Friday.

On the occasion, Advisor Provincial Ombudsman Rehana G Ali Memon, Registrar Masood Ishrat and others were also present in the meeting.

During the meeting, Sohail Rajput informed the ambassadors about the aims and objectives of the Provincial Ombudsman Office and emphasized playing their role in public awareness about the Provincial Ombudsman Office.

Sohail Rajput said that students are our bright future, what they learn today will be useful for them tomorrow, while the ambassadors who perform best will also be given internships.

He said that the selected ambassadors will be taken to various offices of the Provincial Ombudsman and will also be awarded certificates of appreciation, while awareness sessions will be held in other educational institutions for the selection of more ambassadors.

During the meeting, the ambassadors also asked various questions related to the jurisdiction and procedures of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, to which the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Mohammad Sohail Rajput gave detailed answers.

Karachi:The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) injected Rs10,317.5 billion in the market through reverse repo purchase and Shariah Compliant Mudarabah based Open Market Operations (OMO) on Friday.

The SBP conducted Open Market Operation, Reverse Repo Purchase (Injection) on January 24, 2025 for 7-day and

28-day tenors and, as per results issued, accepted an amount of Rs9,611.5 billion offered through 30 bids.

The central bank received 30 bids for 7-day tenor cumulatively offering an amount of Rs9,611.5 billion at the rate of return ranging between 13.04 to 13.10 percent while no bid was received for the 28-day tenor. The central bank accepted the entire amount offered through 30 quotes for 7-day tenor at 13.04% rate of return.

Meanwhile, SBP also conducted Shariah Compliant Mudarabah based Open Market Operation for the 7-day and 28-day tenors and further injected Rs706 billion into the market..

The central bank received 5 bids for 7-day tenor quoting an amount of Rs906 billion at the rate of return ranging between 13.08 to 13.12 % while no bid was received for 28-day tenor.

The SBP accepted an amount of Rs706 billion offered through 5 quotes for 7-day tenor at 13.08% rate of return. Total amount offered at 13.08% was Rs600 billion out of which SBP accepted Rs400 billion on pro-rata basis.

Karachi:Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, chaired a weekly virtual meeting on urban governance, focusing on the anti-encroachment drive.

Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners presented their progress reports on the efforts for the improvement of urban governance, including anti-encroachment drives to improve traffic, said a statement on Friday.

The meeting also discussed and reviewed the progress work of removal of construction material, debris and garbage removal and non-use of basements in high-rise commercial plazas on busy roads obstructing the traffic flow.

Deputy Commissioners of South and East reported constant contact with high rise building associations to keep their materials and debris inside their buildings to avoid traffic problems to the vehicle and pedestrians.

They said, they have close coordination with the concerned officials of SBCA to ensure their construction activities are under taken as per building laws and some of the locations the issue has been resolved.

All deputy commissioners shared their efforts to improve urban governance between January 15 and 22, highlighting challenges and successful anti-encroachment efforts.

Deputy Commissioner Malir, Salimullah Odho, informed the meeting that 20 illegal stalls and 30 cabins were removed from Malir Halt and Shah Town in Malir district.

Deputy Commissioner West, Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, reported that in the West district, five locations in Orangi were cleared of encroachments which were creating obstructions to the traffic.

Additionally, encroachments were removed from Gulshan-e-Bahar in Mominabad sub division, and action was taken against tyre vendors at various spots on the roads.

Deputy Commissioner South, Javed Nabi Khoso, stated that in the South district, encroachments were removed from Lea Market Chowk in Lyari and from Zainab Market to Co-Operative Market on Abdullah Haroon Road.

Three restaurants causing traffic obstruction were also targeted, and 15 stalls and five pushcarts were removed.

Similarly, anti-encroachment operations were conducted in other districts.

DC East District Abrar Jafer briefed the Commissioner about the anti encroachments drive carried out in the East District informing that the encroachments were removed from the busy roads including the Allama Iqbal Road, and Aladin Park Sunday Bazaar.

According to DC Central Taha Saleem, during an anti encroachment drive, encroachments were removed from Liaquat Ali Khan Road, Yasinabad Bridge, and Rais Jafferi Road.

DC Keamari, Raja Tariq chandio briefed that encroachments were removed from various locations, including Bismillah Chowk, Nazimabad, and Quetta Madina Hotel.

These operations aimed to improve traffic flow and remove obstacles in various districts of Karachi.

Karachi:A delegation of the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ), led by its President Hassan Abbas and General Secretary Lubna Jarrar, called on Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon at Sindh Secretariat on Friday.

Sharjeel Memon welcomed the delegation and felicitated the newly elected body over their success. The delegation informed the meeting about their reservations regarding the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the Sindh government acknowledges the sacrifices and contributions of journalists. He emphasized that, in both challenging and favorable times, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has consistently supported journalists.

He stated that while freedom of the press is essential, accountability and responsibility in journalism are equally important.

In a statement, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon pledged to personally take up the journalists' community apprehensions with the party leadership and their problems would be solved on top priority.

On this occasion, Secretary Information Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon and Director General Information Saleem Khan accompanied the minister.

Karachi:Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem, along with Assistant Commissioner North Nazimabad, visited various shops in Shadman Town North Nazimabad area and checked prices of essential commodities and also issued challans against illegal profiteering.

On this occasion, some shopkeepers and vegetable vendors were also challaned and given warnings, said a spokesperson.

Taha Saleem said that strict action will be taken against anyone who violates the official rate list. Providing relief to the public and selling goods at official rates is among the top priorities, he said.

He said that shopkeepers will have to sell at official rates at all times and all assistant commissioners in the Central District are active in the campaign against illegal profiteering.

The officials concerned are visiting the markets on a daily basis and taking action against those who violate official rates of essential items.

Assistant Commissioner Nazimabad Hashim Masood also issued challans against shopkeepers and poultry vendors in the Gol Market.
