Karachi:The Regional Directorate Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Sindh in collaboration with Quaid e Azam Boys College and other schools, organised a Threatre performance themed "Nasha Adam Khor Hai" here at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi on Thursday.

The aim of organising Theatre play was to raise awareness against drugs.

Students, teachers, artists and people from all walks of life unanimously called out the society to do more against drug abuse.

Speaking at the occasion, Commander ANF Sindh Brigadier Umar Farooq praised the performance and enthusiasm of students and teachers for arranging this performance and their valor against drug abuse.

Brigadier Umar Farooq called out social media as one of the cause for spreading drug abuse and providing easy access to drugs among youth. He urged parents to remove communication gap with their children and cautioned them to remain vigilant on social circle and activities of their children.

Despite limited resources ANF is leading front foot against drugs with running 5 drug rehabilitation hospitals in Sindh, therefore, society should come forward to aid ANF in fight against drugs, he continued.

President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Mohammad Ahmed Shah commended ANF and drama team for their enthusiasm against drug abuse.

He announced that ACP will bring street performances and songs on drug abuse. He urged society to do more against this menace which has claimed lives of many people and had ruined many homes.

Karachi: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid on Wednesday visited the ZABTech office here in Azam Town area of the city where Executive Director of the institute Waheeda Mahesar accorded warm welcome.

Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized on providing technical and vocational training to deserving women and their children.

She said that Government wants to economically empower people belonging to poor and backward section of the society through skill training so that not only there would be a significant development in the country's industry and trade but also skilled youth could get employment opportunities at home and abroad.

Senator Rubina Khalid, while interacting with the students undergoing different training course such as Beautician, Fashion designing, Culinary Art, Kitchen Making, Industrial Stitching, Welding and Electrician, wished that they would start their own business by learning various technical and artistic skills and improve the economic conditions of their families.

She stated that Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto had said that skill was a capital which no one can take away.

She stressed the importance of bringing innovation in the sectors related to the fashion industry and producing products according to the market requirements. She also proposed to adopt innovation by inviting various dress designers of the country to improve the boutique industry.

Executive Director ZABTech Waheeda Mahesar briefed the Chairperson BISP about the various programs being conducted in the institution and said that Azam Town Center was providing training in 14 different technical and vocational skills to the underprivileged and poor children.

Senator Rubina Khalid said that career counseling sessions should also be started for those who are learning skills in different fields at the ZABTech center so that individuals receiving training from the center could get employment in the market according to their skills.

Karachi: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program Senator Rubina Khalid on Wednesday directed that BISP beneficiaries must be provided all required facilities and the payment process be made easy and transparent so that they could get their funds without any difficulty.

She said this during her visit to Chanesar Goth centre where BISP beneficiaries were being paid their quarterly stipends.

She interacted with the BISP beneficiaries and inquired about the issues they were facing while receiving the amount.

Senator Rubina Khalid also made payments of Kafalat Stipends to deserving women in her presence.

She directed the BISP and Bank officials to ensure display of awareness banners at the payment centers for the convenience of the beneficiaries.

She asked them to ensure early payment to elderly deserving women on priority basis with dignity and payment process be made more transparent.

Rubina Khalid asked the BISP officials to start the process of distributing the quarterly scholarships before 10 am after completing all the formalities.

The Director General BISP, Zulifiqar Ali Shaikh and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Wednesday took notice of non implementation of government fixed LPG prices fixed and sale of substandard and unsafe cylinders in city and directed to launch a crackdown against those shopkeepers who violating rules.

Commissioner chaired a meeting at his office with the Deputy Commissioners, officers of OGRA, Civil Defence, Traffic Police and Transport departments and decided to make effective measures to prevent the sale of substandard cylinders and installation of cylinders in public transport vehicles.

The meeting also decided to seek assistance from Hydrocarbon Institute for inspection of cylinders while officers concerned along with experts would conduct inspection of the cylinders

Commissioner asked all Deputy Commissioners to expedite crackdown against shops selling LPG illegally in their respective jurisdictions.

The Deputy Commissioners briefed the meeting about actions taken against violators in their respective districts.

SSP Traffic Police Dr Qamar Rizvi informed the meeting that 13 vehicles were fined in last two weeks and charged a fine of Rs 75000 for violation while two cylinders were also seized.

The meeting was attended among others by Keamari DC Raja Tariq Chandio, DC Korangi Masood Bhutto, DC East Abrar Jaffer, AC Headquarters Rabia Syed, Ghulam Muhammad Shaheen of OGRA, officers of Transport and Civil Defence departments. Some of the Deputy Commissioners also attended the meeting via video link.

Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy's commitment to meeting the nation's expectations, emphasizing its ability to deliver on all fronts with excellence.

Karachi: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori has announced that a marathon will be held on January 26, starting at 6: 30 AM from the Governor House.

The event will feature Javelin Throw Gold Medalist Arshad Nadeem as the brand ambassador, along with other prominent participants.

According to Governor House statement, Governor Kamran Khan Tessori invited residents from across the province, especially Karachi, to participate in the marathon. Registrations can be made at the "Bell of Hope" installed at Governor House's Gate No.1.

At the conclusion of the marathon, participants will be treated to a variety of delicacies at the Governor House.
