Lahore: Dark clouds reigned in Punjab including Lahore, with light and heavy rain in different parts of the city, making the weather cool and pleasant.

With light showers it is still ongoing in various areas on Friday.

Rain continued to fall in areas around Laxmi Chowk, Abbott Road, Davis Road, Liberty, Mall Road and Lahore High Court, as well as in areas around Jail Road, while rain continued in other areas including Gulberg, Model Town and GPO.

According to Meteorological department details, the cold has intensified as a result of the persistent rain, making the weather even chillier. The heaviest rainfall recorded in Lahore was 8 mm in the areas around Jail Road, followed by 7 mm in Gulshan Ravi and 6 mm in Youhanaabad.

While the Wasa data stated that 6 mm of rain was also recorded in the areas surrounding Gulberg and Upper Mall.

In other parts of the province, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds was reported in Ferozewala, Gujranwala, Gujrat and its surrounding areas, which led to a significant drop in temperature.

In Mandi Bahauddin, light rain continued intermittently, bringing back the chill and resulting in power outages.

Meanwhile, in Kamonki, heavy rain was accompanied by hailstorms, causing the temperature to drop further.

The hailstorm raised concerns over potential damage to the wheat crop.

In the north-western areas of Nowshera Wirkan, severe hailstorms were reported, and roads in Oulakh Bhaike and Argan Bangla were covered in hail. Farmers in the region were left worried, with significant crop damage.

Nowshera Wirkan also experienced power outages as all feeders tripped due to the storm.

Meanwhile, in Hafizabad and its surroundings, heavy rain and hailstorms made the weather cold and pleasant.

In Khanqah Dogran, rain caused a build-up of mud on the main GT Road, disrupting traffic flow and causing severe inconvenience for commuters.

Lahore: The HBL PSL X will return to entertain cricket crazy nation with a match defending champions Islamabad United (IU) and two times champions Lahore Qalandars (LQ) at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on April 11 (Friday).34 matches will be played in the six team tourney between April 11 and May 18, with Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium set to host 13 matches, including two Eliminators and the final.Cricket will also return to Peshawar during the upcoming edition of the PSL X and an exhibition match will be played on April 8 in Peshawar. The teams of the match will be confirmed in due course.For HBL PSL X, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host 11 matches, including Qualifier 1 on May 13. Lahore: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) food safety teams conducted a grand operation in Mominpura and seized fake soft drinks, prepared for Ramazan supply.

A total of 300 litres of the counterfeit mixture were discarded and a case was registered against the unit owner. During raid, motors, mixers, filling machines, bottle caps and crates were confiscated.

The DG Food Authority said the unit was producing counterfeit beverages of various brands using an unapproved formula. Facility had poor hygiene conditions with raw materials stored directly on the floor. Fake mixture was found in blue drums, violating food safety regulations and business was operating secretly without a Food Authority licence.

Lahore: Consul General of the Republic of Trkiye Durmus Bastug called on Minister for Local Government Punjab Zeeshan Rafiq at his office, here on Friday.

According to a press release, Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed Mian was also present. During the meeting, bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest were discussed. The provincial minister mentioned the recent visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Pakistan and said that the history of friendship between the two countries spans decades. "Trkiye has supported Pakistan in difficult times," he remarked.

Zeeshan Rafiq told the Turkish consul general that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, completed several public welfare projects in a short period of time. "All possible facilities are being provided to Turkish investors in Punjab," he added.

The consul general thanked the provincial minister for the meeting and assured that the Turkish government would continue its cooperation with Pakistan, particularly the Punjab government.

Lahore: A meeting chaired by Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq reviewed matters related to Lahore Parking Company on Friday and ordered for developing new parking sites in the city.

Lahore Parking Company Chief Executive Officer Naveed-ul-Islam Virk briefed the minister about various ongoing and future development plans. The minister sought suggestions on outsourcing of on-road parking, and ordered for regularising private parking matters. He ordered for making the mechanism more effective for preventing overcharging in terms of parking fees. He said that Lahore Parking Company had the potential to collect revenue. "I am happy to know that Lahore Parking Company has increased its revenue through its measures," he said.

The parking company CEO said strict action was being taken against overcharging at parking sites. After the warning, FIRs were also registered. He assured that as per the instructions of the provincial minister, a survey for the preparation of new parking sites will be started soon.

Lahore: A heavy downpour halted the Australia-Afghanistan fixture in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Gaddafi Stadium on late Friday evening.

Earlier, Afghanistan scored 273-10 in their innings and set Australia a target of 274 runs to secure a place in the semi-final of the Champions Trophy. Australia are 109-1 in 12.5 overs.

The DLS par score is 56 and Australia are 53 runs ahead of Afghanistan. The team must play at least 20 overs in the innings to make DLS effective.

The rain has dampened hopes of Afghanistan to make to the maiden semi-final of an ICC event.
