Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-N provincial organisation of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa met PML-N President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here at the party secretariat, on Thursday.

During the meeting former senator Zahid Khan expressed trust in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and reiterated his resolve to play his role after joining the PML-N. He said that PML-N president's vision and programme could rid the KP people of their problems. He said that credit for restoring peace in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, initiating development projects and completing Lawari tunnel goes to Nawaz Sharif. He further said, "People of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa laud the performance of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz."

Nawaz Sharif welcomed Zahid Khan in the PML-N and said his inclusion in party would strengthen it. He said people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had rendered great sacrifices in Pakistan's Movement and to root out terrorists.

He said that it was the agenda of PML-N to make Pakistan prosperous and bring it in the list of developed countries. It was unfortunate that whenever the country moved on road to progress, it had been pushed towards crises, he said and added that with the grace of Allah Almighty, the PML-N had put the country's economy on path of revival.

He said that country's development journey was incomplete until all provinces take part in it, adding that political stability and continuity of policies were inevitable for progress of the country. He said the PML-N government was working under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to convert country into developed economy.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal apprised Nawaz Sharif that funding of Hazara Airport was stopped in tenure of the PTI government and the project was abandoned.

Nawaz Sharif appreciated projects started by Ministry of Planning and Development for 20 backward districts and said that the government should take steps to ensure participation of backward areas in country's development process.

Javed Murtaza Abbasi, Anusha Rehman, Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar and others were present.

Lahore: The police athletes who showcased exceptional performance at the 7th Asia Open International Taekwondo Championship visited the Central Police Office and met with Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.

Four police athletes clinched six bronze medals.

The IG Punjab extended his full appreciation to the victorious athletes and announced that certificates of appreciation and cash rewards would be presented to them.

He remarked that the police taekwondo athletes delivered outstanding performances, and the medal-winning athletes are a source of great pride for the police department. He further emphasised that the encouragement and support for athletes winning medals through the Police Sports Board will continue.

Punjab Police spokesperson said that Sub-Inspector Ambreen Yousuf and Head Constable Mohammad Azmat each won two bronze medals, while Constables Mohammad Waleed and Ali Akbar secured one bronze medal each. The spokesperson also mentioned that teams from various organisations, including the Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force, and Railways, participated in the championship.

Lahore: Under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, a review meeting on crime prevention was held at the Central Police Office, here on Thursday.

The IGP evaluated the crime control, law and order, and security situation in the Multan and Sahiwal regions.

The meeting was attended virtually by Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, RPO Multan Captain (Retd) Sohail Chaudhry, RPO Sahiwal Mehboob Rashid, and the DPOs of the respective districts.

The IGP expressed dissatisfaction with the performance regarding the completion of challans and the arrest rate of proclaimed offenders in both regions. He instructed the officers to include habitual criminals in the proclaimed offenders' category and ensure their swift apprehension.

He stressed the need to implement timeline and SOPs for FIR registration, investigation, and challaning. He also emphasized focusing on cases involving blind murders, robbery killings, rape, kidnapping for ransom, and abduction of women and children. In cases of sexual assault, the investigation must be handled by an expert officer from the Specialized Sexual Offense Investigation Unit (SSOIU).

He further directed that under the Anti-Rape Act, data of convicted criminals should be registered and continuously monitored. RPOs and DPOs were instructed to collaborate with investigation officers to create a task list for the arrest of proclaimed offenders and ensure regular follow-ups. They must also oversee the resolution of complaints through Virtual Women Police Stations, 1787, and other complaint portals. Regarding incidents of burglary and motorcycle theft, SDPOs and SHOs must personally visit the crime scenes. The IG Punjab added that motorcycles are a common mode of transport for the public, and efforts should be made to increase the recovery rate of stolen motorcycles.

He also praised the performance of the Punjab government's flagship project, the Virtual Women Police Stations, for ensuring justice for women. He instructed RPOs and DPOs to directly contact complainants and petitioners at the 1787 complaint center to address their grievances. He emphasized enhancing community policing and strengthening relationships with public representatives.

Additional IG Operations Punjab Shahzada Sultan, Additional IG Investigation, AIG Operations, and AIG Monitoring were also present at the meeting.

Lahore: Under the direction of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, a ceremony was held at the Central Police Office here on Thursday for distributing financial assistance cheques for the construction of homes to the families of police martyrs who embraced martyrdom before 2017.

An additional 8.5 million rupees were distributed among the families of the police martyrs during the event. Families of 15 martyrs were given 500,000 rupees each, while the family of one martyr was given a cheque of 1 million rupees.

The IGP said that plots have already been provided to the families of 701 police martyrs who died before 2017. Punjab Police have also provided 57.5 million rupees from its own resources for the construction of homes on these plots for the martyrs' families, he added.

The Punjab Police spokesperson provided further details, stating that cheques were given to the families of martyred inspectors Shahid Abbas and Safdar Ali. Similarly, cheques were also distributed to the families of martyred ASIs Muhammad Ali and Shab-e-Qadar. The families of martyred constables Muhammad Arshad, Jaleel Ahmad, Rehman Ilahi, and Iftikhar Ahmad were also among the recipients.

The IGP paid tribute to the unmatched sacrifices of police martyrs, stating that the martyrs of the police force are their pride and the alleviation of their families' hardships is a top priority. He also mentioned that foreign scholarships for higher education have been arranged for the martyrs' children, and agreements with prestigious educational institutions have been inked to provide them with the best education.

Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry, DIG Establishment-II Liaqat Ali Malik, and DIG Welfare and Finance Ghazi Mohammad Salahuddin, among other senior officers, attended the ceremony.

Lahore: Group insurance cheques were distributed among the families of police employees at the Capital City Police Headquarters on Thursday.

DIG (Admin) Imran Kishwar distributed cheques worth more than Rs. 3.713 million among 18 families of retired and in-service police employees, who passed away during service.

The recipients of the cheques included the families of SI Ejaz Ahmad, ASI Abid Hussain, Tariq Hussain, Head Constable Shahroz Khan, Mumtaz Hussain, Shehbaz Mansoor, constable Ali Imran, Muhammad Jamil, Amanat Ali, Akhtar Rasool, Lady Naib Qasid Samira Rafiq, and cook Usman.

The families of police employees expressed their gratitude to Lahore Police for timely provision of dues.
