Lahore: Medical Superintendent (MS) of Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC) Dr. Muhammad Nadeem Akhtar has been removed from his post, while pharmacist Noman Ali dismissed from his job due to poor performance.

The Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education issued a notification regarding their removal on Thursday. According to the notification, both officials were relieved of their duties based on unsatisfactory performance.

Lahore: In connection with the Horse and Cattle Show 2025, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) organized a Children's Festival at the Bagh-e-Jinnah Open Air Theater.

The festival offered special international superhero circus performances, rides for children, food stalls, and various recreational activities.

On the first day of the circus, both international and national performers showcased their unique acts, receiving great applause from the citizens. The outstanding performances by the artists were well appreciated by the spectators.

The Children's Festival will continue from 13th February to 23rd February. There will be two shows each day. The first show will be from 6: 00 PM to 8: 30 PM, and the second show will start at 8: 30 PM for the public to enjoy. Citizens expressed their joy, noting that circus artists take great risks for the entertainment of the audience, making the circus stand out from other sports. Children will now be able to watch performances they previously saw only in movies or on TV in person.

Lahore: Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has praised the Punjab government's initiatives for water conservation, efficient usage, drought prevention, pollution control, and environmental improvement.

In a written interim order on petitions concerning the smog issue, released on Thursday, the court outlined the government's environmental policies and deemed its performance exemplary.

Justice Shahid Karim assigned all monitoring responsibilities to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) based on its performance over the past 11 months. The EPA has been directed to implement concrete measures to prevent water wastage and ensure efficient use.

A fine of Rs. 10,000 will be imposed for washing vehicles at home and wasting water. Additionally, petrol pumps without recycling plants will face a Rs. 100,000 fine. The EPA will inspect petrol pumps to ensure the installation of recycling plants, and penalties will be imposed on non-compliant stations despite prior warnings.

The court commended the government's legislative efforts for water conservation and announced the establishment of a special authority under the Chief Minister of Punjab to ensure environmental protection and efficient water usage. Local governments have been instructed to set up treatment plants, which will be mandatory for all future residential and commercial constructions.

The court also acknowledged various environmental protection measures in the transport sector. The LHC emphasized the importance of Punjab's environmental policies and ordered the relevant authorities to ensure their strict implementation.

Lahore: Punjab Board of Revenue Senior Member Nabeel Javed has said that bio fuel project will help eliminate smog.

He said this while presiding over bio fuel tourism and agriculture development project here on Thursday.

He said that ECO tourism system is being introduced for promotion of tourism in the province. He said that electricity would be generated through paddy residues with bio fuel project.

Temporary cultivation scheme is also being introduced for promotion of agriculture in the province, he added.

He further said that under temporary cultivation scheme, farmer could acquire up to 400 acres of government land on lease.

Tourism Secretary Farid Ahmad Tarar, Colonies Secretary Shahrukh Niazi, Forest Special Secretary Tahir Zafar Abbassi and others were present.
