Chances of more rains in KP from Friday

PESHAWAR:A spokesperson of the Meteorological Department said here on Friday that there is a possibility of more intermittent rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Friday to Sunday.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has said that all district administrations to stay on alert given heavy rains and winds.

The district administration has been directed to take precautionary measures, DG, PDMA said.

Due to heavy rains, there is a risk of landslides in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra and Abbottabad.

The PDMA has directed the district administration to ensure the availability of small and large machinery and to monitor rain drains.

In the event of a storm, people should stay away from power lines, dilapidated buildings and constructions, cyan boards and billboards. Tourists and local population in sensitive upper areas are instructed to be aware of weather conditions and take precautionary measures, a PDMA spokesman said.

Messages to the district administration in sensitive districts should be conveyed to the local population in local languages, a PDMA spokesman said.

In any emergency, all the concerned organizations should be alert in the maintenance of road links and in case of road closure, alternative routes should be provided for traffic.

The concerned authorities should transfer the people to the safe waiting areas when necessary while Tourists should be informed about the weather situation and PDMA’s emergency operation centre is fully operational, the spokesman informed.
