LAHORE: The delegation of China’s solar company Zonergy Corporation met Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain at Punjab Investment Board in which investment opportunities in the province and special incentives for foreign investors were discussed.
The opportunities of investment in solar energy sector in Punjab were also discussed.
The Minister while talking to the delegation said that the government is serious about manufacturing solar panels in Punjab. Efforts are being made to set up a factory to manufacture solar panels in Punjab this year. He said that investors have special incentives of investment in industrial estates. Income tax exemption for 10 years and one time duty free machinery import facility has been given. The provincial minister said that Garment City is being built on an area of 2000 acres near Lahore. Foolproof security is being given to foreign investors in Punjab. Several Chinese companies have invested in various sectors of Punjab. All possible facil
ities will be given to Zonergy Company to increase investment in Punjab, he added.
Mr. Shao Wei, GM of Zonergy Corporation of China said, “Our group has installed a 300 megawatt solar power plant in Bahawalpur. Our company has the expertise in the manufacturing of inverters and batteries. We are looking to increase investment in solar energy sector of Punjab.”
Officials of Punjab Investment Board were also present in the meeting.
