SIALKOT:Under the direction of caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, a cleanliness campaign is going on in 124 union councils across the district.
Management committees have been established in 1011 out of 1558 villages and loader rickshaws and sanitary staff have also been provided to all union councils. These views were expressed by Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Adnan Mehmood Awan while explaining the details of the programme.
The Deputy Commissioner said that under the under the “Ab Gaon Chamkein Gay” of the Punjab government, a clean-up campaign has been started in the four tehsils under the management of the local government, in which waste will be collected from villages and sewerage drains would be cleaned.
He said that loader rickshaws had been provided to all 124 union councils across the district, three workers on daily wages and a total of 372 sanitation workers have also been provided for cleaning in each union council.
The Deputy Commissioner said that 14011 activities have been uploaded on the portal of the Punjab government for the cleaning of sewage drains and disposal of garbage across the district. “On the last day, 702 activities were conducted.”
The Deputy Commissioner said that the Assistant Commissioners (ACs) are monitoring the campaign in the areas under their management. Officers have been instructed that in villages where management committees have not yet been formed, the process should be completed in the shortest possible time.
