Multan: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Multan Region arrested a settlement clerk of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Khanewal, red-handed while accepting a Rs10,000 bribe during a trap raid on Friday.
According to an ACE press release, the raid was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Director Investigation ACE Khanewal Kashif Mahmood and his team, in the presence of a judicial magistrate.
The accused, identified as Nasir Abbas, was arrested while receiving Rs10,000 from the complainant, Ashfaq Ahmed. The tainted currency was recovered from his possession and taken into custody in accordance with the law.
The ACE said the complainant had alleged that he had already paid Rs40,000 to the accused for obtaining copies of quarter-related documents, while the clerk was demanding an additional bribe.
A case was registered against the accused under relevant legal provisions, and further investigation and legal proceedings were underway.
