Mirpur (ajk): A day-long capacity-building workshop titled “Climate Futures 2030 with a Focus on Mirpur”, emphasized the importance of integrated, locally informed approaches to strengthen climate resilience in Mirpur and across AJK.
The event was hosted by ‘Center For Peace, Development and Reforms (CPDR), world-fame NGO-cum-think tank, bringing together young climate activists, students,researchers, practitioners, and civil society representatives to examine climate change impacts in Azad Jammu and Kashmir through a systems-based approach, correspondent reports from Mirpur.
The workshop focused on understanding climate risks across air, land, and water systems, with particular attention to Mirpur’s urban and environmental challenges, correspondent reported.
Participants shared respective input discussing and highlighting key concerns including water stress, land-use change, air pollution, and unplanned urban growth, emphasizing how interconnected systems can intensify climate vulnerability.
The workshop concluded with the identification of priority areas and early warning signals to guide future climate action and community-level initiatives.
