Lahore: A delegation of Oxford University Press (OUP) Pakistan called on Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif here on Monday.
Matters related to the promotion of quality education. enhanced collaboration and strengthening of academic standards in the province came under discussion.
During the meeting. the delegation appreciated the Punjab government’s education reforms and termed the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence a landmark initiative for promoting excellence in public education.
The CM welcomed OUP Pakistan’s offer to collaborate with the Punjab School Education Department. The meeting also approved a pilot project to introduce the Oxford University Press curriculum at the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence.
Under the proposed collaboration. OUP Pakistan will support teachers’ digital training and capacity building and provide teaching guides and other academic resources to improve learning outcomes.
The delegation praised the school’s academic standards and modern learning environment. describing it as a model institution for public education.
Speaking on the occasion. CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said her vision of public service extended beyond Punjab and expressed her desire to contribute to educational development across Pakistan.
She said she shared the concerns of the people of Karachi and Sindh and wanted quality education to be accessible to children in every province.
Maryam Nawaz said the increasing number of parents seeking admission to government schools reflected growing public confidence in the Punjab government’s education reforms.
She added that the participation of thousands of students in the entrance test for the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence demonstrated public confidence in the initiative.
