Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi visited under construction Controlled Access Corridor project here on Friday and reviewed progress being made on the mega project from Niazi Chowk up to Babu Sabu.
Mohsin Naqvi inspected ongoing development work at the site. The CM shook hands with the labourers working on the project and urged them to continue working with more hard work. The CM directed the contractors of both packages to speed up their work.
Mohsin Naqvi, while expressing his displeasure over the slow pace of work on the Bund Road project, directed Secretary Housing to personally oversee the project. He directed to make utmost efforts to complete the Controlled Access Corridor project within stipulated time. The CM directed to work day and night for the early completion of 7.3 km long Controlled Access Corridor Bund Road project.
While talking to the media after visiting the Controlled Access Corridor project, he apprised, “We are going to launch an operation against foreigners residing illeg
ally and 31st October is the deadline. All preparations have been completed with regard to sending foreigners to their homelands. No leniency will be meted out to any foreigner residing unlawfully. A strict crackdown will be launched against those trying to provide shelter or hiding the foreigners residing unlawfully in Punjab. No pardon of any kind will be granted to those helping the foreigners residing unlawfully.”
The CM stated that it is his message for the farmers not to sell their cotton at cheap rates. Cotton will soon be sold at its original price as before and ascertainment of wheat support price will be done in the coming few days, he added.
The CM revealed that next four months Punjab budget after holding consultations with the legal experts will be presented on Monday. “We presented a four months budget which has been utilized, ” he added.
In reply to a question, Mohsin Naqvi said that thanks to Allah Almighty, air quality index did not reach up to a dangerous level as it did last year owing t
o excellent team work. If the air quality index crosses dangerous levels then more decisions can be taken in this regard, he added.
Amendments in the rules of the Anti-Corruption department have not been finalized as few recommendations are put forth in this regard which are under review, he added.
CCPO, Deputy Commissioner, Chief Engineer LDA, MD NESPAK and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
After the completion of the Bund Road Project, quick access to the motorway from any part of Lahore will be possible. Crores of rupees will be saved with regard to time and fuel with the completion of the Controlled Access Corridor project. The Controlled Access Corridor project will be constructed from Niazi Chowk up to Saggian Interchange in package one and from Saggian Interchange up to Babu Sabu Interchange in package two. The length of package one will be 3.65 km long while the length of package two will be 3.65 km long.
