HYDERABAD: The Commissioner Hyderabad Khalid Hyder Shah has assured that all genuine issues of the business community of the historic city would be resolved adding that efforts are being made to complete all ongoing development schemes aimed at providing a better civic infrastructure to the residents.
The second largest city of the province did not witness a matching development even in industrial and trade sectors despite increasing population, he said and assured that he would try his best to get an express feeder approved for power supply to small industries.
The Commissioner held out such assurances while speaking to members of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the HCCI spokesman informed and added that the problems relating to traffic management, gas and power load shedding, drainage and water supply which were shared by the representatives of the business community would be resolved at the earliest.
He asked the officer concerned to prepare a summary for approval of express feeders for small industries from the Sindh government. He promised that power supply to 200 small industries would be provided to ensure prosperity in the industrial sector.
The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Tariq Qureshi who also accompanied the Commissioner informed HCCI members that new traffic signals are being installed. He said that the problems of traders are being addressed adding that the traffic management board was already working. He said that other issues of traders would be addressed as well.
The President of HCCI Adeel Siddiqui in his welcome address said that the business community always shouldered responsibilities with the government in times of need like floods and natural disasters. He said that in the present state of the economy, the businessmen were struggling along with the government to ensure stability in the economy.
The HCCI President emphasized the need for upgrading the infrastructure of Hyderabad adding that the residents of Kohsar and Amani Shah Colony are depending on private tankers for drinking water supply. He attributed this problem to the negligence of the Water and Sanitation Agency. He said that the industrial area, highway and Hali Road area were flooded with drainage water whenever storm water drain overflows which needs to be addressed on a priority basis.
Adeel Siddiqui said the traffic management demands big decisions and although the traffic management board was working problems are still not being resolved. He said that traffic issues could only be resolved by building underpasses, flyovers and signal-free corridors.
He termed raids on go downs in the name of price control measures as an injustice to traders. He said that 16 acres of land should be freed in the Hala Naka area.
The Patron HCCI Iqbal Hussain Baig said that the administration should fix prices while considering ground realities. He said that substandard and unhealthy milk is being sold in the city.
The Senior Vice President of HCCI, Najmuddin Qureshi said that the fruit and vegetable market pays millions of rupees taxes to the market committee but the infrastructural needs of the market were not met. He said that the required funds are not being spent by the market committee. He said the market committee was under obligation to carry out development works to upgrade infrastructure.
The HCCI members apprised the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner about the illegal threats from officials of the Bureau of Price Control to traders. They said that a bus terminal was needed in the city. They also raised the issue of inexpensive sale of LPG in the market and excessive load shedding by Hyderabad Electric Supply Company.
