Hyderabad: An review meeting was held at the Commissioner House, Hyderabad, under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad, Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, to assess the progress of ongoing projects under the Provincial ADP Scheme Establishment of Public Schools in Sindh (05 Units).
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Yousuf Sheikh, Assistant Commissioner Tando Muhammad Khan, Assistant Commissioner Tando Allahyar, Superintending Engineers of Education Works Circle I and II Hyderabad, and other concerned officers, who briefed the meeting on the physical and financial progress of public schools in their respective districts. The meeting reviewed the slow pace of completion of public schools in Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Tando Allahyar.
Expressing concern over the delays, Divisional Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi questioned why flagship education projects such as public schools were facing prolonged stagnation. Officials informed the meeting that the academic block of the Tando Muhammad Khan Public School has been completed; however, due to a departmental inquiry and the absence of a formal handover decision, the building has not yet been put to use, resulting in deterioration of the structure. It was further reported that the boundary wall and other blocks have remained in the same condition since 2018, and ratification is not possible until the inquiry is concluded.
Regarding the Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Public School in Tando Allahyar, officials stated that the academic block has been completed, while the remaining components are pending due to a lack of funds. In Matiari Public School, following a revision, the total area has been increased to approximately 47 acres, where the academic block and hostel have already been constructed, though several other components still need completion. Officers also informed that heavy rains and the temporary sheltering of IDPs have caused damage to some school buildings.
Divisional Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi directed that the public schools in Matiari and Tando Allahyar be made operational on a priority basis, while in the case of Tando Muhammad Khan, funds should be released immediately after the departmental inquiry is finalized. He emphasized that the existing infrastructure must be put into use without delay to prevent further deterioration and instructed the concerned departments to formally approach the Finance Department for the release of funds once the inquiry is completed.
