RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak has directed the authorities concerned to complete the ongoing development schemes swiftly.
According to a Commissioner’s Office spokesperson, the Commissioner chairing the divisional Development Working Party (DDWP) meeting held here reviewed the progress on the projects and instructed the authorities that no compromise should be made on quality and transparency.
13 uplift schemes including two from Rawalpindi, three from Jhelum, and eight from Chakwal were presented by the Public Health department in DDWP for the extension of the gestation period.
The Commissioner said that unnecessary delays in development projects compromise their usefulness, therefore, the completion of all the schemes should be ensured within the stipulated time frame.
Rainwater harvesting and water treatment projects for Murree should be launched as soon as possible, Engineer Aamir said adding, that the local needs could be met by saving the rainwater from being w
asted.
Drainage and Sewerage Schemes for Ward No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 in Wah Cantt should be completed before the deadline of June. A deadline of next month was also set for the completion of the work on streets and drainage system in Chaklala Cantonment Board, Ward No. 1 to 6.
Revised approval was taken for the repair and maintenance of four road projects of the Chakwal district.
Revised approval was also taken for a five km long main road of Hastal village, construction of PCC road Dhok Gah, repair of a five km long road from Dodha to Khasala, and a six km long road from Saddam Chowk to Tarati.
The meeting also gave revised approval for the repair and maintenance of Pindaddan Khan to Chawah Chakwal road in Jhelum district.
Before bringing the schemes to the concerned forum, it should be ensured that there is no duplication of the concerned scheme with any other department, Engineer Aamir Khattak directed the authorities.
GIS mapping of the development schemes of all the departments should be done, he o
rdered and said that a dashboard of the development schemes should be created in all areas. Daily progress could be reviewed on the dashboard, Aamir Khattak said.
The Commissioner said that whether the development scheme is small or big, its quality should be ensured in such a way that there is no need to repeat it for many years.
