HYDERABAD:Commissioner Syed Muhammad Sajjad Haider Tuesday chaired a meeting with regard to the availability of basic facilities at polling stations.
Addressing the meeting Commissioner said that according to guidelines issued by the Election Commission after a comprehensive survey for the availability of basic facilities at polling stations, the Education Works Department has complied an estimated expenses sheet that will be sent to higher authorities of Sindh Government and Election Commission for release of funds.
The Commissioner directed all DCs to take steps for provision of water, washrooms, electricity, ramp for disabled persons and other basic required facilities at buildings other than the buildings of the education department. Regional Election Commissioner Muhammad Yousuf Siddiqui said that 2387 polling stations would be setup for vote casting in Shaheed Benazirabad Division.
He said that regarding provision of required necessary facilities a report would be submitted with the election commission after collection of data.
He said that previous floods and rain the damaged polling station buildings would be recommended to be shifted to some nearby buildings. DC SBA Zahid Hussain Rind, DC Sanghar Imranul Hassan Khawaja, DC Naushehro Feroze Arsalan Saleem informed meeting about steps taken to provide basic required facilities at polling station of their domain areas.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Commissioner-1 Subhash Chandar, SE Education Works Shafique Ahmed Channa, Dy Director Information Ghulam Abbas Goraho, Distt Election Commissioner SBA Muhammad Yousuf Majeedano, Distt Election Commissioner Naushehro Feroze Khalid Ahmed Mirza, Election Officer Sanghar Muhammad Umair, XEN Distt Education Works and other related officials.
