RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Salman Ghani visited the Rawalpindi Ring Road project site on Friday to review ongoing construction progress, quality standards and operational readiness, and directed executing agencies to deploy maximum resources to finish remaining works on a priority basis.
The inspection was attended by the Deputy Project Director, Project Director Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), resident engineers, and site contractors.
Reviewing operational facilities, the commissioner directed officials to immediately initiate civil works for toll plazas and weigh stations, while accelerating the timely procurement of necessary hardware and software for toll operations.
He further emphasized the installation of enhanced directional signage and road safety markers to ensure guided and secure commuting across the corridor.
Reiterating strict compliance with engineering benchmarks, the commissioner warned that no compromise will be made on material specifications or construction quality. He instructed project managers to execute all structural elements strictly in accordance with approved technical designs and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
To prevent delays, Commissioner ordered immediate resolution of field bottlenecks, enhanced inter-departmental coordination, and continuous monitoring of daily targets. He also instructed authorities to maintain effective traffic management and clear alternative routes around construction access zones.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of the project, Commissioner Salman Ghani said that the Rawalpindi Ring Road will alleviate urban traffic congestion, improve regional transit efficiency, and stimulate socio-economic development across northern Punjab upon completion.
