RAWALPINDI:Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Noor ul Amin Mengal on Saturday directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to take strict action against illegal housing schemes.
The 58th Governing Body meeting of RDA was held here which was chaired by the Chairman RDA, Tariq Mehmood Murtaza and Commissioner Rawalpindi Division who is also holding the charge of Director General RDA.
The meeting was briefed about different projects while the Governing Body approved several agenda item including Rawalpindi Ring Road and Kutchery Chowk projects.
The Commissioner proposed to hire services of consultant and award the work to the contractor for immediate execution of both the projects.
The Commissioner also directed the authorities concerned to take all possible steps to provide relief to the citizens.
He emphasized that the citizens should be informed about Building and Zoning Regulations 2020 and status of all the illegal housing schemes.
He directed the RDA employees to work hard and make all-out efforts to address the complaints of the residents.
He directed MP&TE to take strict action against illegal and unauthorized constructions and commercial activities without any discrimination.
He ordered the director LU&BC to take strict action against encroachments. A committee comprising Vice Chairman RDA, Chief Engineer RDA, Director MP&TE, RDA and Director LD&EM, RDA was also formed which would check and verify the mortgages and status of the development projects, committed by Private Housing Societies.
The Committee would also check physical status and development in the housing schemes and properties already developed in the illegal housing schemes/land sub-divisions.
The authority decided that a joint survey would be conducted along with other stakeholders for demarcation the area to be clarified for jurisdiction of both RDA and ICT and the subsequent area if falls in the limits of ICT may be handed over to them.
