Multan: Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan has directed administrative officers to expand the third phase of the ‘Madr-e-Ilmi Se Rabta’ (Contact with the Alma Mater) programme by identifying more former students and establishing direct contact with them to improve missing facilities in schools.
Chairing a meeting to review preparations for the third phase, the commissioner said that 2,063 former students had been identified during the first phase of the programme, while 258 development schemes had so far been completed through engagement with alumni.
He said community funding of Rs226.89 million, secured with the cooperation of former students, had enabled provision of missing facilities in schools. The commissioner ordered identification of schools still lacking essential facilities and directed officers to contact their former students for support. He stressed that administrative officers should maintain direct contact with alumni, adding that the programme’s real impact would emerge through practical engagement and completion of development schemes.
He directed officers to review progress over the next 30 days and set a target for practical work to begin by the end of October. The meeting also reviewed expansion of the ‘Mann-o-Salwa’ free meal initiative to other districts. The commissioner directed that more ‘Mann-o-Salwa’ points be established with the support of business community members and philanthropists. He said 437,000 people had so far benefited from free meals under the initiative and called for extending its reach to more deserving people.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Commissioner and other officers, while Deputy Commissioners and relevant officers participated through video link.
