Commissioner sets one-week deadline to close illegal petrol pumps

District

PESHAWAR:Commissioner Peshawar Division Khalid Mahmood has directed all assistant commissioners to permanently shut down illegal makeshift petrol pumps across the provincial capital within a week to protect human lives and property.

He issued the directives during a meeting, instructing the assistant commissioners to take immediate action against the illegal outlets and submit a report after completing the operation within the stipulated period.

The commissioner said these illegal petrol pumps posed a serious threat to public safety and could cause major accidents at any time. A recent fire at a makeshift petrol pump had further highlighted the risks associated with such outlets.

He said the protection of human lives and property remained the top priority and warned that negligence in action against businesses endangering public safety would not be tolerated.

He directed all assistant commissioners to ensure the permanent closure of the illegal petrol pumps within the one-week deadline and submit a compliance report.
