LAHORE:Old Anarkali Police arrested five suspects, including a police constable, for allegedly supplying banned kite-flying material from Kasur to Lahore, foiling an attempt to transport and sell prohibited kite reels in the city.
According to a spokesperson for the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), Faisal Kamran, the police broke the online supply chain by posing as buyers and placing an order for kite reels. The suspects arrived in a vehicle carrying the prohibited material for supply when the police arrested them.
The arrested suspects included Constable Huzaifa, his father, two brothers and a friend. The constable was posted at the Punjab Forensic Science Agency laboratory, the spokesperson added.
A case (No. 832/26) was registered at Old Anarkali Police Station, and further legal proceedings were under way.
The DIG said indiscriminate action would continue against those involved in the illegal sale and supply of kite-flying material.
He said police personnel violating the law would not be above accountability, adding that wearing a uniform carried the responsibility to uphold the law rather than the privilege to violate it.
He further said operations would continue to dismantle the supply chain of prohibited kite-flying material.
