Lahore: A local court on Thursday announced its verdict in a narcotics case involving the recovery of 12 kilograms of charas, sentencing the accused, Athar Abbas, to 20 years rigorous imprisonment after the charge was proved.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Bilal pronounced the judgment and also imposed a fine of Rs 800,000 on the convict. The court observed that in case of failure to pay the fine, the convict would have to undergo an additional one year of imprisonment.
The case was registered by Nishtar Colony police, which submitted the challan in the court in 2024.
During the trial, Prosecutor Fayyaz Ahmed Bhatti presented the prosecution case and recorded statements of 12 witnesses in support of the charges.
