ISLAMABAD: A lower court on Wednesday reserved its verdict on a petition of Ali Haider Gilani seeking acquittal in a case regarding corrupt practices during the senate elections.
Additional District and Session Judge Haseena Saqlain heard the case of Ali Haider Gilani, the son of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
The counsel for Ali Gilani filed a request for exemption from appearance which was approved by the judge.
During hearing, the court issued bailable arrest warrants against the co-accused including Captain (retired) Jameel and Faheem Khan due to their non-appearance in the proceeding.
The petitioner’s lawyer contended that there was lack of evidence against his client Ali Gilani so the trial couldn’t be proceeded. He prayed the court to acquit his client from the charges.
The court reserved the verdict which would be announced on July 15.
