ISLAMABAD: Assistant Commissioner (AC) Industrial Area Awais Irshad Bhatti on Monday inspected major grocery stores for compliance with notified rates, display of price lists, and enforcement of the ban on the use of polythene bags.
The Assistant Commissioner arrested two persons for violating the rules and seized 2 kg of polythene bags. He also issued a warning to other violators.
Impressively, the Assistant Commissioner took this action within 24 hours of receiving the directions from the Deputy Commissioner.
This crackdown by the Assistant Commissioner Industrial Area is a welcome step to protect the rights of consumers and enforce the ban on polythene bags, which are harmful to the environment.
A resident of G-9 Islamabad Inam Ullah Khan said that despite these inspection visits by ICT officials, numerous shopkeepers have been found violating the price lists.
