SARGODHA:Commissioner Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti has directed zero tolerance against quacks across the division.
He directed the deputy commissioners of Sargodha, Bhakker, Khushab and Mianwali to launch a crackdown on quacks even in villages.
He was chairing a meeting in his office on Saturday to review progress on the moves against dengue, price hike, overpricing of fertiliser and encroachments. The meeting was attended by the DCs, ACs of Sargodha.
Expressing his dissatisfaction with the performance of the price control magistrates of the entire division, he issued orders to the deputy commissioners to hold daily meetings with the price control magistrates and send a report based on their actions. He directed the assistant commissioners to take strict measures against overcharging.
The commissioner directed the officials to intensify anti-dengue activities in all the four districts and establish dengue wards in all government hospitals and also directed the deputy commissioners to record and release a video message about taking precautionary measures against the disease among the public. The commissioner termed the performance of the anti-dengue teams unsatisfactory and said that the activities should materially be seen across the division as merely registration of FIRs was not a solution.
The meeting was informed that currently there were 16 confirmed cases of dengue in Sargodha while no case has been reported in Bhakkar and Khushab. Similarly, four confirmed cases in Mianwali have been transferred from other cities. Availability and prices of fertilisers were also reviewed in the meeting.
Director Agriculture Shahid Hussain said that against the demand of 2.6 lakh bags of urea fertilizer across the division, 2.2 lakh sacks were received this year. Currently, there is no shortage of urea and the price has also reduced by Rs600 per sack due to strict monitoring during this month. He said that 1.4 million sacks of urea will be required for wheat sowing this year while there are 150,000 sacks in stock.
A crackdown is also underway against those selling fake agricultural drugs and fertilizers. The commissioner said that the process of providing the next installment of Rs. 9,000 of the Benazir Income Support Programme to the beneficiaries is about to start. All the Deputy Commissioners should contact the local officers and ensure advance arrangements at all the centers. He also directed to ensure foolproof security arrangements for Eid Milad-ul-Nabi celebrations and processions across the division by conducting meetings with the members of peace committees.
Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Captain Retired Shoaib Ali, Deputy Commissioner Khushab Zeeshan Shabbir Rana, Deputy Commissioner Bhakar Dr. Noor Muhammad Awan, ADCG Mianwali Khalid Guriya and other relevant people from the Local Government Municipal Corporation and other departments also participated in the meeting.
