Rawalpindi: City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have launched strict action against illegal and unregistered driving schools operating in the district and has issued written notices directing them to wind up operations immediately.
The action has been initiated on the directions of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam.
The traffic police warned that legal action would be taken against driving schools that continue operating despite the notices and previous warnings.
CTO Farhan Aslam said road accidents were not merely a matter of fate but were often caused by negligence and lack of awareness among road users.
He said inadequate training at substandard driving schools could increase the risk of road accidents. Such institutions, he added, often failed to provide proper instruction on traffic laws, road safety, vehicle mechanics and safe driving practices.
The CTO said legal notices had therefore been issued to unregistered and substandard driving schools to help protect human lives and reduce the risk of road accidents.
He added that the traffic police were focusing on traffic education, road safety, reducing accidents and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic across the district.
