DC chairs meeting regarding facilities at polling station

HYDERABAD:In order to ensure facilities at polling stations for the coming general elections, Deputy Commissioner Zahid Hussain Rind chaired a meeting at Darbar Hall on Monday.

DC directed officials of the Departments of Education and Education Works to take a view of the necessary facilities, including electricity, washrooms, water, boundary walls, and others, at polling stations selected for the coming elections and submit the report within a period of one week so that the required facilities could be arranged.

Officials of education and the election commission were instructed that teachers of any school shall not be selected for election duty alone so that the education of students may not be affected. District Election Commissioner SBA Muhammad Yousuf Majeedano informed the meeting that, accompanied by an official of the education department, the polling stations were visited to view the required facilities.

He disclosed that 772 polling stations are made for the election process, out of which 105 polling stations partially lack facilities such as electricity, washrooms, water, and others, while 48 polling stations are greatly affected. The meeting was attended by District Health Officer Dr. Daulat Jamali, Additional Director Local Government Abdul Sattar Rathore, XEN Education Works Ghula Murtaza Abbasi, Chaief Monitoring Officer Tariq Ali SOlangi, District Education Officer Secondary Muhammad Saleem Bhatti, District Education Officer Primary Masood Ahmed Sahito, Information Officer AIjaz Ali Teevino, and other concerned officials.
