DC chairs meeting regarding facilities at polling stations

HYDERABAD:In order to review the facilities at polling stations during general elections, Deputy Commissioner Zahid Hussain Rind chaired a meeting on Tuesday.

Addressing the meeting DC said that all possible measures would be taken to facilitate voters and election duty staff during the general elections so that the election process could be completed without any difficulty.

DC instructed officials of the Education Works Department to find an alternate building where the original polling station building is in dilapidating condition and submit a report in this regard. All Assistant Commissioners were instructed to visit the polling station building, inspect the availability of required facilities, and submit a report in this regard.

DC said that the Election Commissioner has pointed out 105 polling stations and has submitted estimated expenses for proving required faculties after a comprehensive survey while a separate survey report is compiled for arranging facilities at 48 buildings in damaged condition.

Briefing the meeting, District Election Commissioner Muhammad Yousuf Majeedano informed that in District Shaheed Benazirabad 772 polling stations are set up for election of 2 national and 4 provincial assembly seats.

He said that according to guidelines issued by the Election Commission steps are taken to provide required facilities at polling stations.

District Health Officer Dr. Daulat Jamali, XEN Education Works Ghulam Murtaza Abbasi, Chief Monitoring Officer Tariq Ali Solangi, District Education Officer Secondary Muhammad Saleem Bhatti, District Education Officer Primary Masood Ahmed Sahito, Deputy Director Information Ghulam Abbas Goraho, Director Livestock Dr Aijaz Hussain Lashari and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
