Bahawalpur: In line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s good governance policy aimed at providing prompt, transparent and indiscriminate relief to citizens at their doorstep, an open court was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
Regional Director Anti-Corruption Zawar Manzoor Waraich, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hasan Raza and District Police Officer Rana Abdul Wahab listened to citizens’ applications individually and issued directions to the concerned officers for immediate resolution of their grievances. A large number of citizens from remote areas attended the open court and submitted written applications regarding a variety of issues and complaints. The officers of relevant departments were contacted on the spot to obtain details about the complaints, while directions were issued for immediate action on several applications and submission of reports.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Shagufta Jabeen, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur Saddar Hamza Ehtesham and other officers of the district administration were also present. Regional Director Anti-Corruption Zawar Manzoor Waraich said citizens should lodge complaints without fear regarding corruption, demand for bribes and misuse of authority. He assured that all complaints received would be dealt with strictly in accordance with law and rules. He emphasized that cooperation from citizens was essential for effectively combating corruption and promoting transparency in public institutions.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Hasan Raza said unnecessary delay in resolving public complaints would not be tolerated. He directed all concerned officers to dispose of complaints strictly on merit, with transparency and in accordance with the law. He said the purpose of holding open courts was to strengthen direct interaction between citizens and the administration and ensure effective resolution of public grievances. The district administration, he added, was taking all possible measures to address people’s problems and provide them timely relief.
DPO Rana Abdul Wahab directed police officials to take immediate action on applications related to police matters in accordance with the law. He said efforts were being made to ensure timely and transparent relief to citizens through government institutions. He added that timely resolution of public grievances and transparent governance remained among the top priorities of the district administration.
