DC for improving performance, governance indicators

Bahawalpur:In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the district administration will align its performance with the government’s priorities to ensure good governance and effective public service delivery.



Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza has directed all government departments to ensure significant improvement in performance and governance indicators. He said that bringing clear and sustainable improvement in the quality of services provided to the public was the administration’s top priority. He directed all departments to make effective use of available resources and provide timely and improved services to citizens. Officers should work as a team to achieve the desired results against governance indicators, while Assistant Commissioners and other relevant officers must ensure effective implementation of government initiatives through regular field monitoring.



The Deputy Commissioner said that negligence, lack of interest or delay in resolving public issues would not be tolerated. He directed officers to ensure that public complaints were addressed on a priority basis. He also called for making price control magistrates more proactive and directed effective field monitoring of the prices, availability and sale of essential commodities at officially notified rates.



The Deputy Commissioner further directed the relevant departments to improve performance against governance indicators concerning the Suthra Punjab Programme, the availability and safety of manholes, and petrol pumps. He instructed the departments to strengthen their field-level measures and pay special attention to achieving assigned targets. He also directed the concerned authorities to ensure action against stray dogs, along with the vaccination and registration of pet dogs.



Syed Hassan Raza stressed that all relevant officers must remain proactive in taking effective action against corruption and ensure transparency, merit and adherence to the law under all circumstances. He made it clear that the performance of all departments would be evaluated on the basis of performance indicators. Officers, therefore, must devise effective strategies to achieve their respective targets and ensure tangible results in the field.



The Deputy Commissioner expressed his resolve to improve performance across all areas of public service and ensure the timely, quality and effective delivery of government services to citizens.
