Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Capt (retd) Muhammad Wasim conducted a detailed inspection of various areas in the city on Friday to assess preparedness of the municipal corporation and other departments regarding urban flooding.
During his visit to Mela Mandi Road, Istiqlal Abad, Sillanwali Road Chowk, Kutchehri Bazaar and Shaheen Chowk, among other areas, the DC reviewed cleanliness operations and directed that every street, market, neighborhood, and road in the city should appear clean.
Muhammad Wasim emphasised the importance of sanitation staff being on duty during their designated working hours and promptly addressing complaints related to sewerage and garbage. Highlighting focus of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on making cities and villages clean, he warned against any negligence or laxity in this regard. He directed the MC officials to personally monitor cleanliness operations on daily basis.
Regarding urban flooding, the DC emphasised the need for all machinery to be functional and sta
ff to be alert to ensure timely drainage of rainwater and provision of relief to the public. He also inspected the machinery at the Sialanwali disposal site and directed that all disposal sites should have functional machinery and an alternative system in case of power outages due to rain.
Later, the deputy commissioner inspected the under-construction Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology and reviewed the quality of construction material and other aspects. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing work and emphasised the need to complete all work within the stipulated time. Among those accompanying the deputy commissioner were ADC (R) Mohsin Salahuddin, Assistant Commissioner Amina Ehsan Tarar and MC official Zoya Baloch.
