Bahawalpur: A meeting of the District Coordination and Implementation Committee was held under
the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hasan Raza to review implementation of the ‘Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar’ scheme and ensure timely provision of agricultural facilities, technical guidance and financial assistance to farmers and allottees.
The meeting reviewed progress on the scheme, targets set under the programme and matters relating to various stages of its implementation.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure that allottees received agricultural and technical guidance, financial assistance and other necessary facilities promptly and transparently after obtaining possession of their allotted land. He said effective implementation of the scheme was essential for achieving its intended objectives. He stressed the need for effective coordination and cooperation among the departments concerned and directed officials to provide allottees with practical guidance on crop cultivation. They should also be familiarized with modern agricultural practices, advanced technologies and improved production techniques, he added.
The Agriculture Department officials were directed to provide all possible technical assistance to allottees regarding crop selection, cultivation and other agricultural matters. Syed Hasan Raza said all relevant departments must perform their responsibilities effectively to achieve the targets of the scheme. He called for coordinated measures to ensure timely resolution of problems faced by allottees and directed that the process of providing financial assistance should also be made transparent and expeditious.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Shagufta Jabeen, Assistant Commissioners, and Agriculture Department officials attended the meeting. Deputy Director Agriculture Hafiz Muhammad Shafiq briefed the meeting on progress in implementation of the scheme, agricultural guidance being provided to allottees and other related matters.
