NAROWAL:Deputy Commissioner Narowal Muhammad Ashraf said on Monday that no negligence by the departments concerned would be tolerated in adoption of preventive measures for dengue control throughout the district.
He was presiding over a joint meeting of the district emergency response committee and polio control.
The meeting was attended by Health Department officials Dr. Naveed Haider, Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Medical Superintendent District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Dr. Afzaal Ahmed Rajput, World Health Organisation representative Dr. Aqib Hanif, District Entomologist Amanat Ali, DSV Mujahid Ali, officials of relevant departments and members of anti-dengue field teams.
The DC directed the officers to frequently survey dengue breeding places and take effective measures to keep such places dry and clean. He urged checking tyre shops, junkyards, cemeteries, nurseries without delay and said that the anti-dengue activities of all departments should be visible to all concerned. He said that the relevant departments should ensure their attendance in the Tehsil Emergency Response Committees meeting.
The DC said that it was not possible to prevent dengue without cooperation of citizens, so awareness programmes should continue to create awareness among masses about implementation of preventive measures to stay safe from the dengue mosquito.
During the meeting, Health Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Health Dr. Naveed Haider and Focal Person Dr. Mohammad Tariq informed the Deputy Commissioner Narowal about the dengue surveillance performance report regarding dengue control.
Along with this, he said that the anti-polio campaign will be started in Narowal district on October 2, for which the health department has started preparing and making micro-plans.
Deputy Commissioner said on this occasion that we should give polio drops to our children to protect them from the polio virus. In this regard, we have to make collective efforts to get rid of polio completely, and to make anti-polio drive successful, along with other stakeholders and scholars will have to perform their duties according to their tradition.
