Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner(DC),Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Friday warned the contractor responsible for the Satellite Town water supply system against negligence and directed the relevant officials to ensure uninterrupted provision of drinking water to residents.
During his visit to the Satellite Town water supply facility,the DC expressed displeasure over negligence in maintaining the water supply system and directed the contractor to immediately improve the service.
He warned that failure to ensure uninterrupted water supply would result in strict legal action against the contractor,including arrest and imprisonment in accordance with the law.
The DC also expressed concern over non-payment of electricity bills and other administrative issues related to the water supply system.
He said failure to pay electricity bills despite collecting water charges from residents,resulting in disruption of water supply was unacceptable.
Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry directed the contractor to fulfill his responsibilities and ensure that citizens were not deprived of their basic right to access drinking water.
He directed Managing Director(MD) WASA,Imran Abubakar and Assistant Commissioner(AC) Sargodha,Ahmad Sher Gondal to ensure effective monitoring of the water supply system and take immediate notice of any interruption in service.
He instructed the relevant officers to regularly monitor the contractor’s performance and remove all obstacles affecting uninterrupted water supply.
DC also interacted with residents at the site and heard their complaints regarding water supply.
He assured the residents that the district administration was taking measures to address their problems and that legal action would be taken against those found responsible for negligence.
He urged citizens to immediately inform the district administration in case of any disruption or negligence in water supply so that timely measures could be taken to restore the service and fix responsibility.
AC Sargodha Ahmad Sher Gondal,MD WASA Imran Abubakar relevant officers and the contractor were also present on the occasion.
