Multan: Pakistan Railways Multan Division has intensified its crackdown on ticketless travel, recovering Rs 114,825 from 36 passengers during surprise checks on Sunday.
According to a spokesperson, the drive follows the vision of Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi and directives of Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railways Multan Muhammad Khalid Khan, aimed at discouraging travel without tickets and protecting railway revenue.
A team of the Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) Group, led by DCO Multan Rashid Ali Mahesar, inspected the 8 Down Multan-Khanewal and 13 Up Khanewal-Multan trains on October 3, 2026. Thirty-six ticketless passengers were caught, from whom Rs 102,350 was collected as fare and Rs 12,475 as fines.
The group also inspected stalls at Multan and Bahawalpur railway stations. Substandard food items were found, and fines totalling Rs 12,000 were imposed on the stallholders concerned.
Speaking on the occasion, DCO Multan Rashid Ali Mahesar said providing quality travel facilities to passengers, safeguarding railway revenue and ensuring the availability of standard food items at stations were top priorities of Pakistan Railways.
He said action against ticketless travel and substandard food would continue without discrimination.
