Delay in elections can aggravate country’s problems, says Senator

Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Senator Kamran Murtaza on Monday said that the delay in elections could aggravate the problems of the people of this country.

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), should announce the exact date for general elections without further delay, he said while talking to a private television channel.

There is no reason to postpone general elections after passing the 90-day constitutional period, he said. The caretaker government is responsible for making arrangements for free and fair elections across the country.

In reply to a question about security institutions, he said Pakistan’s security institutions should provide foolproof security to citizens and the election commission.
