DG KDA imposes rain emergency

KARACHI:Director General Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Naveed Anwar imposed rain emergency in KDA townships and schemes across the city in view of expected rains.

The DG KDA Naveed Anwar has issued instructions to the concerned officials that taking into account the expected rains, appropriate measures should be immediately taken in all KDA townships and schemes, said a statement on Thursday.

All the machinery should be kept active to drain the water and all the officers and employees should perform their duties 24 hours a day to deal with any emergency situation.

While canceling the leave of the concerned officers and employees, the DG KDA issued orders to Chief Engineer KDA Tariq Rafi and said to remove all encroachments around the drains flowing from KDA schemes and townships.

He said that every possible step should be taken to maintain the flow of water in drains, in this regard, any kind of negligence or negligence will not be tolerated.

He gave orders to the Executive Engineer and concerned o
fficials and said that measures should be taken on an emergency basis to remove the encroachments around the Malir river and to maintain the flow of water by completing cleaning with the heavy machinery.

He said that a Rain Emergency Center has been set up at Civic Center to deal with any untoward incident during the expected rains, which will play an important role in monitoring the situation due to rains 24 hours a day as well as ensuring emergency measures.
