Karachi: Director General of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Zain-ul-Abidin Ansari, conducted a detailed visit to various development projects under the administration of the KDA with the cooperation of the Sindh Government and reviewed the ongoing development works.
During the tour, the DG KDA inspected the Munwar Chowrangi underpass, Check Post Three to Malir Expressway (Shahrah-e-Bhutto), and the Gujjar Nullah connectivity projects, said a statement on Wednesday.
On this occasion, Superintending Engineer Junaid Siddiqui gave a detailed briefing to the DG KDA regarding the progress of the projects, technical matters, and the ongoing work. Executive Engineer Tariq Jalil and the concerned Assistant Executive Engineers were also present on the occasion.
During the briefing, it was informed that the total cost of the Gujjar Nullah connectivity project is Rs. 2,554.431 million, while a 9-kilometer-long dual carriageway is being constructed under the project. The width of the road is 7.9 meters, while
the length of the bridge is 583 meters and its width is 5.50 meters.
Similarly, regarding the Check Post 3 to Malir Expressway (Shahrah-e-Bhutto) project, it was informed that its total cost is Rs 1,449.459 million. Under the project, an 11.54-kilometer-long road is being constructed, which has a width of 7.3 meters, while the length of the bridge is 125 meters and its width is 8 meters.
The construction of the underpass at Munwar Chowrangi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Scheme 36, District East Karachi, with the cooperation of the Local Government and Housing Town Planning Department, Sindh Government, has an estimated cost of Rs. 1,485.150 million and a revised cost of Rs. 2,026.487 million.
The total length of the project is 727 meters, the length of the underpass is 493 meters, and the width of the main carriageway is 7.3 meters (dual track). The slip road features 2 lanes of 3.05 meters each (on both sides of the main carriageway), and the service road features 2 lanes of 3.65 meters each (on both sides of the m
ain carriageway).
While reviewing different parts of the projects, the DG KDA directed the concerned officials to ensure quality, speed, and technical requirements in the development work under all circumstances.
He emphasized that special attention should be given to the timely completion of ongoing projects to provide better travel facilities to the citizens, and that monitoring of the work in the field should continue in an effective manner.
