DHQ Mardan to provide quality treatment to people: Commissioner

Peshawar: Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmad has said that District Headquarters Hospital, Mardan after expansion will play important role in provision of quality treatment facilities to the people of Mardan and its adjoining districts.

He assured that the provision of necessary funds for the project from the provincial government would be made possible soon.

He expressed these views during an interaction with the concerned authorities on the occasion of his visit to DHQ Hospital here on Friday.

Besides, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mardan Dr. Azmatullah Wazir, Secretary to Commissioner Sara Tawab and Superintendent Engineer C and W Imran Khan were also present on this occasion.

Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Javed Iqbal, while giving a briefing to the Commissioner Mardan Division, said that the project of expanding the hospital and improving the treatment facilities in it is in the final stages of completion at a huge cost of Rs.2.90 billion. Upon completion of the project the number of beds in this hospital would increase to 1000.

The Superintendent Engineer (SE) C and W Imran Khan said that so far more than Rs.2.60 billion a have been spent on this project, while Rs.520 million are required for its completion.

With the efforts of the Advisor on Health Ehtesham Khan a fund of Rs.250 million has been released and if it continues then the hospital will be completed by June this year, he informed.

Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmed visited various departments including OPD, private rooms, children and physiotherapy and under construction wards, administration block and residential portion of the hospital and reviewed the ongoing development activities.

He said that the higher authorities of the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) will be contacted to resolve the problems faced in connection with power supply to the hospital while the relevant forum will be approached for obtaining funds.

He said that all necessary steps will be taken to complete the DHQ Hospital project soon so that the people can benefit from it.
