LAHORE:Lahore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran has directed police officers to take immediate action on public complaints involving alleged domestic violence, harassment, threats by loan sharks and other issues, while ensuring protection and justice for complainants.
According to a police spokesperson, the DIG directed the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Cantt to provide immediate protection and ensure justice to a woman who complained that her son was subjecting her to violence and attempting to force her to sell her house.
He also directed the station house officers (SHOs) of Faisal Town, Factory Area and Shadbagh to ensure protection for women who reported being subjected to violence by their in-laws.
In another complaint, a citizen of Bahrain reported not receiving a plot he had been promised. The DIG directed the SHO of Manawan to take legal action in the matter.
Taking notice of threats allegedly issued by loan sharks, he directed the SHOs of Gujjarpura, Civil Lines, Nishtar Colony and Gulshan Ravi to take action in accordance with the law.
The DIG also ordered the SDPO Cantt to conduct an inquiry into a case in which a citizen had been booked in a case related to alleged forced begging.
Faisal Kamran said the police had a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and social crimes, adding that protecting citizens and providing them with legal guidance were among the department’s responsibilities.
He said citizens could visit his open court daily from 1pm to 3pm to lodge complaints. Online complaints would also be heard during a Facebook Live session on Sunday at noon, he added.
