Lahore: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran took notice of delay in legal action on a citizen’s complaint and ordered the suspension of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) after the SHO of Shahdara Town failed to provide a satisfactory response.
The DIG sought a video link briefing from the SHO Shahdara Town regarding the complaint and, after finding the response unsatisfactory, ordered forfeiture of one year’s service of the SHO and suspension of the ASI concerned.
During the open court, citizens submitted complaints related to fraud, land grabbing, family disputes and other issues. Relevant officers were directed to respond on the spot to the complaints.
Faisal Kamran directed police officers to ensure timely legal action on applications and keep citizens informed about progress in their cases.
He warned that the concerned officer would be held accountable for any unjustified delay in action after registration of a complaint.
The DIG advised citizens to approach senior police officers if no action was taken on their applications.
He said the open court was an effective mechanism not only for redressal of citizens’ grievances but also for monitoring the performance of police officers.
DIG Faisal asked citizens to approach the open court daily from 1 pm to 3 pm for resolution of their issues. He said complaints could also be lodged through Facebook Live at noon on Sundays.
