RAWALPINDI:Rawalpindi administration on the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi, Hassan Waqar Cheema has accelerated operation against hoarders.
According to a district administration spokesman, the administration taking strict against sugar hoarders conducted raids on different illegal warehouses and took action in accordance with the law.
He informed that the administration sealed 13 godowns in Tayyaba Market, Rattaamral on Sunday night and confiscated over 1,000 sugar bags weighing 50 kilograms.
The administration also sealed five shops in Dalgaraan and Naswar Bazaars for hoarding sugar.
The DC had directed the authorities concerned to take strict action against sugar hoarders.
The operation would continue indiscriminately, he said adding, that the citizens were also requested to report illegal hoarding of sugar.
The confiscated sugar would be supplied at prescribed rates in the open market, he informed.
The citizens also welcomed the action taken by the administration against the hoarders and urged the authorities concerned to net the hoarders and profiteers.
The spokesman further informed that on the special directives of the Punjab Government, the Rawalpindi district administration had taken a solid step toward overcoming power theft in the region.
The District Enforcement Committee had been formed with Assistant Commissioner Headquarters, Waheed Sadiq as its focal person.
The committee comprising members from district police and the administration would ensure strict action against power theft, he said and informed that a control room had also been set up in Rawalpindi Civil Defense Office in this regard.

The administration had requested the public to cooperate in this effort to curb electricity theft.
